Distinguished Educator
John Shoemaker M.A. is a Technology Program Specialist in the Department of Educational Technology at The School District of Palm Beach County. His primary responsibility is the facilitator of Project SMaRT, a Technology Initiative in the School District of Palm Beach County. Project SMaRT consists of 250 secondary teachers from 70 schools and 6 departments in the district as well as 30 teacher trainers. In addition to Project SMaRT, John is part of a 12 member team that provides high quality professional development to over 12,000 teachers in integrating all forms of technology into the classroom.
John is certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Varying Exceptionalities (K-12). He holds the State of Florida Reading Endorsement (K-12). He is Verified and Highly Qualified in the State of Florida to teach Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
He is currently enrolled in the doctorate program at Nova Southeastern University and anticipates graduating in April 2013 with a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. He completed his Master of the Arts in Teaching and Learning through Nova Southeastern University’s SkyLight Program in August 2007. His specialization was in K-12 Technology Integration.
John is an accomplished presenter having presented at hundreds of workshops at a local, state, and national level on a wide variety of topics. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator in the Class of 2011. He is also an Apple Certified Associate - iLife. He is a District Certified Project CRISS Trainer.
